Getting back into DIY drones after a hiatus of over a decade! I’m the CEO of an approved (by the Civil Aviation Authority) aerospace design organisation, UK.AP1002, called FAC Technology. We specialise in composite materials and adhesives so I’m on here to see if there might be demand for drone frames with made using materials we initially developer for commercial aerospace applications. E.g. I bought a BSD Source Aureo sandwich panel based drone frame and knocked out our own version using composite sandwich panels we developed for our Aerospace pallets; its a bit lighter (45g vs 49g) and over twice as rigid in flexure. As our aerospace pallets get rammed by forklifts all the time, these panels are engineered to take a hell of a beating too with the resin system delivering properties (e.g damage resistance as measured by critical fracture energy) comparable or superior to aerospace grades of PEEK (e.g. APC2) and so vastly superior to epoxies out there.
